Value systems from family, friends, communities and thus the environments we interact with become the foundation for continuity and longevity of people and organizations. This is an interesting fact from a point that the basis for a lot of innovation whether in private corporations or social entrepreneurship came from a foundation of value systems that people believe in.

So the basis for observation is that the value systems that individuals and communities have are today the basis for how emerging economies and BOP economies are being leveraged. It is the socio-economic-human-natural capital that is the driver of these value systems and which represent the opportunity for continuity of the individuals, leaders, organizations and communities.

A very interesting article from Business Week titled "THE LIVING COMPANY: Habits for survival in a turbulent business environment" says it all...a whole list of companies from the Fortune 500 list not even lasting one lifetime age expectancy of 75 years to some great examples of Japanese and European companies that are over 500 years!

This is a great example of continuity to learn and adapt from for which value systems play a critical role.

Value systems, ethics, integrity has to be Top-Down Vision and Bottom-Up Mission.
