Blogging at 40,000 feet
I'm flying across the Pacific enroute to Cambodia and am pleasantly surprised to find that the plane I'm on has Internet access.
The service is called Connexion and was developed by Boeing; apparently a few carriers (although no American airlines) are starting to adopt it. (I'm flying China Airlines.) It costs about $10 for 30 min. or a flat fee of $25 for the flight. Still a bit steep for consumer use, but a no brainer for the business traveler.
I'm just not sure if I like being wired in the sky, though. Flying seems to be the one place where there's time to read, think, sleep and write without being disturbed.
I haven't yet tried to Skype...that might be even worse. And what will my seatmates think?!
Sounds like 'internet everywhere':)
