More Resources for Your Pitch and Venture Formation

Steve Ketchpel (RDVP Fellow 2005) was kind enough to remind me of the fantastic Technology Formation course offered in the school of engineering. MS&E 273 (aka IE273) has a very nice webpage of resources, including a section on venture pitches.

Hi,

There are many resources in the Bay Area to help new and/or early stage entrepreneurs. A lot of non-profits conduct what I call 'pitch fests' where entrepreneurs present to a panel of VCs who critique the pitch and make suggestions, and even sometimes, have further discussion that may lead to funding. Most of these non-profits offer coaching beforhand.

One such non-profit is based in New Mexico with a presence in Silicon Valley (Livermore?) and is funded by Hughes (I believe, I might be wrong) to conduct in-depth training. They give separate, multi-hour training on, for example, writing the business plan, making the presentation, building your financial forecasts... Check them out at http://www.techventures.org/

Oh and there is SVASE.org for whom I volunteer. I've invited Esther Dyson as a dinner guest on Thursday, April 6, with 6 entrepreneurs in informal conversation.
