RSSRSSRSS, Web 2.0 Resources for Schools
I spent my Saturday installing/configuring Drupal and collecting feeds, links and images on Web 2.0 to create a pilot website for RSSRSSRSS, my project that proposes to introduce Web 2.0 to computer science schools and universities, in preparation for my school visits in Davao City, Philippines on December.
RSSRSSRSS.com proposes for weekly classes wherein students share the new things they have learned on Web 2.0.
The framework for learning are as follows:
UNDERSTAND
The teacher leads students to fundamental topics for understanding Web 2.0. "About Web 2.0" section lists pages that make an attempt to define Web 2.0. "Visualizing Web 2.0" section contains some visual representations to help in this understanding. "Web 2.0 Concepts and Technologies" section goes into the details of the various areas of Web 2.0.
DISCUSS
"Web 2.0 Feeds" section contains up-to-date news on Web 2.0 industry trends and company news. These news can be discussed in the same interactive manner as current events in a social science class.
EXPERIMENT
"Web 2.0 Technical Resource" section are for technically skilled students who would like to build Web 2.0 applications on their own.
This framework of Understand-Discuss-Experiment is my recommendation for students' exposure to the evolving field / industry of Web 2.0.
