What is the difference between Private Messages and e-mail and how do I configure/access them properly?
The private messaging functionality has been disabled to avoid confusion.
All messages sent through the system are forwarded to the e-mail address you provided in your profile.
Your e-mail address is never revealed to other users.
You may also choose not to be contacted by e-mail by other users.
Be aware that some spam filters may block these messages.
To ensure your contact information is properly configured, please...
- verify the e-mail address you have registered with in our collaboration framework:
- click on the "my profile" option on the main menu at the top left side of the screen.
- then click on the "edit" tab, under your name.
- verify the e-mail address entered in the E-mail address field and change it if necessary.
- scroll down to near the end of the page and check the Personal contact form option if you want to enable users to send you e-mail (however, they will not be able to see your mail address, so your privacy is protected).
- scroll down to the end of the page and click on the Submit button to activate your changes.
- test the e-mail sending feature in the collaboration framework by sending an e-mail message to yourself from the website:
- click on the "my profile" option on the main menu at the top left side of the screen.
- then click on the "contact" tab, under your name.
- type a Subject and enter a test Message.
- click on the Send e-mail button at the end of the form.
- test the functionality and behavior of your mail client by confirming you receive the message sent in your traditional e-mail application:
- open your conventional e-mail application and look for a message from our collaboration framework.
- if you don't see it, please look in your "junk mail" or "spam" mailbox for it may have been misidentified as such by your mail application, since it was generated by a program.
- if you find it there, follow your mail application instructions for marking the collaboration framework messages as not spam and from a safe sender.
- if you don't see it there either and more than 30minutes have passed since you sent the message, please contact our collaboration framework administrator for assistance.
