Users can now upload podcasts or audio files to the collaboration framework that visitors can listen to on-line or download for offline listening in their computers, Ipods or mp3 players.
It is very easy to record, create and edit your own audio files with any computer that has a microphone. I recommend using Audacity, a free, simple and easy to use, open source application available for Windows, Mac and Linux at:
Once you record your message and have your audio file ready in your computer, you can upload it to the collaboration framework by using the "audio" option available available under "advanced content" in the "compose" menu.
If you upload an mp3 file, visitors have the option of listening to it on-line (streaming via an embedded flash player).
Visitors can also download the file so they can listen to it offline (on their Ipod or mp3 player or on their computers).
Please note that if you upload a .wav file, users will only be able to download the audio file.
Audio files uploaded are listed at http://fellows.rdvp.org/audio and also under any category you choose to place them.
The user's profile presents also let's visitors listen to the latest audio file uploaded by a user.
This is a first step toward enabling audio blogging and podcasting.
Will later try pulling audio rss feeds and using a better embedded flash player.
